Mark’s 29er V2

I am building a special SS frame for bikepacking in general.

Bikepacking is about long days in the saddle with a loaded bike and as such my upper body position on the bike will be a little more upright. The bike will also have a slightly lower bottom bracket and mounts for an extra water bottle under the frame. The drawing shows the bike with three water bottles but for most rides I will use my frame bag in the main triangle and just the bottom bottle.

The bike will also be setup with v-brakes in the rear and use simple track ends. Components on this bike will focus on durability.

The wheels on this bike are DT Swiss rims and spokes paired with XT hubs. A 170mm SLX crank drives the 36×20 gearing. Braking are XT hydro in the front with Avid Single Digit 7 V-Brakes in the back. A Thomson post supports a Specialized Phenom Saddle. Up front the bars are Salsa 23 degree sweep bars with a Forte stem.
